A Lighthouse is a trained volunteer who welcomes family members into our virtual home,
we hold the very first conversation, over Zoom, with someone seeking support-
to listen, empathize and connect.
Joe is the carepartner for his wife Dina who has FTD. Joe is an active member and co-facilitator of our monthly Light Lounge (male support group) as well as a member of our After Hours group (our monthly male group more focused on life after caregiving).
Meet Shanelle...
Her family walked alongside her mother throughout her journey with younger-onset dementia until her passing in 2016. She was only 50 years old when first symptoms started to emerge, and at that time, Shanelle was just 16 years old and her younger brother was 12.

Meet Will…
Will's mum, his hero, was diagnosed with young-onset, at 49 years old and his sister is their mum’s primary support crew. Will’s mum was diagnosed when he was 16, and until recently, he kept it in a box as a way of coping. Will has found that speaking with other young people with lived experience has been a massive help in being comfortable with what this means for him and his family.
Meet Kristen...
Kristin is the former care partner for her beautiful husband Blake who had younger-onset and passed in March 2023. She has five children and is from Utah, US. Kristin has one of the BIGGEST hearts of anyone that you could meet.
